Hi Al,
It's possible you will be hearing from an inspired 3rd grade classroom in Ann Arbor. Makes for great math and geography lessons. Looking forward to your travelogue. Happy Riding! Sent 2009-05-08 from Ingrid Crause |
We'll be watching your progress and holding down the fort in your absence.
We wish you nothing but the best Al.
Enjoy and BE SAFE! Sent 2009-05-08 from Walt Curry |
We're betting on the side that you WILL make it. All the best. Sent 2009-05-07 from Dan and Monica |
Al: Be safe. Enjoy. I would ask that you use some common sense but that horse is out of the barn. Wish you nothing but the very best. Sent 2009-05-07 from Ed |
You'll be fine. 21K ft in a week is nothing, assuming the wind is behind you. If that's not true, just think of it as a bigger hill.
Good luck. I know you'll make it.
PS Don't let your hands or your other parts fall asleep from leaning on the handlebars. I know a guy who let that happen, and when he had to go to the bathroom he grabbed his left thumb with his right hand and peed his shorts. Be careful. Sent 2009-05-07 from Denny |
Have a wonderful trip.....May the GODS be with you...Remember no pain no gain...So keep on pushing.... Sent 2009-05-07 from RC |

Since I get to take you to the airport tomorrow, I'll be the last one giving you advice as you leave Michigan. I have the whole day to think of something that will stay with you for 50 days. This better be good! Sent 2009-05-07 from Larry F |

Nothing like a little challenge to keep life interesting. Hope it isn't as grueling as last year's trip. I'll be following your progress. Sent 2009-05-07 from your cousin down under |
Last night, Nancy, the girls’ field hockey coach, asked me, “How did Allan ever talk you into this?” Well, he didn’t.
We never had the conversation,” Should he? Could he?”
If you float a seemingly unintelligible idea around for 15 or 20 years it becomes a matter of “when?” And now that he has put the money down and is leaving tomorrow, it seems a little late to be asking “why?”
The kids probably have the only answer, “That’s Dad and he does stuff like that.”

Al, you may want to consider wearing gloves that cover your entire hands. Otherwise, the frostbite may keep you from the daily blogging. Have a great -- and safe! -- trip.
