Wow. Day 5 Norway
The day began with a 12 mile climb. The first 4 miles averaged 3-5%, mile 5-8 averaged 6-7%, and the last 4miles averaged 8-10%.
At he peak were spectacular views of waterfalls, ponds and mountains. The descent near the top was all narrow switchbacks. The buses, RV's. and cars were continually stopping so vehicles in the opposite direction could pass.
Phil waited for me at the bottom and we cycled together for the remainder of the 86 mile trip.. It was described as flat. In AA it would have been considered mountainous with 10% climb.
Last night we stayed at a fabulous wilderness hotel with a dinner that was as fine as I have ever had at a hotel. Duck bread and hearts, local fruits and vegetables, and smoked cod. At a nearby farm we could see the farmer bailing hay from dusk until 10pm. The hay is too wet in the day and it has best dried by dusk.
